New Awujale will emerge before May 29, Abiodun assures Ijebuland

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun assured Ijebuland that a new Awujale would emerge before May 29. At an Ogun East Senatorial District stakeholders’ meeting in Ijebu-Ode, he urged residents to remain calm and patient, pledging a peaceful succession process that would earn the community’s acceptance. The throne has been vacant since July 2025, when Oba Sikiru Adetona died aged 91 after a 65-year reign. Abiodun also named oil exploration near Eba Island, the proposed Gateway Deep-Sea Port and the Blue Marine Special Economic Zone as projects expected to drive economic growth.
