New Developments in the Demarcation of the Senegal-Gambia Border

The Senegal-Gambia joint commission has completed the first phase of their border demarcation, covering about 30 kilometers from Dimbaya to Foni, including Kombo and Kanao. Over six weeks, teams reaffirmed colonial boundary markers, recorded geographic coordinates, and installed new markers to make the border more precise and identifiable. This effort aims to modernize and secure the border, originally defined between 1889 and 1905, replacing natural landmarks that have become unreliable with permanent concrete markers.
