New Electoral Body/Opposition Facing Legal Action: 37 Civil Society Organizations Write to President Ouattara

The Platform of 37 Ivorian Civil Society Organizations, Associations, NGOs and Movements (PEC-CI), led by Rémi Yao Ebrin, wrote to Alassane Ouattara on October 20, 2026, urging dialogue amid tensions between the ruling RHDP and opposition parties. It expressed concern over arrests of PPA-CI officials and anti-terrorism unit summonses issued to PDCI-RDA leaders and activists, following political tensions surrounding the October 2025 presidential election. The platform called for an end to arrests and summonses targeting opposition and civil society figures, as well as official security guarantees for Ivorians in exile. It urged inclusive talks involving the government, political parties, civil society and other stakeholders to reach consensual solutions.
