New York: Senegal secures new agreement for a second refinery

Senegal signed an agreement in New York to build a second refinery with a capacity of 4 million tons of crude oil per year, costing between 2 and 3 billion dollars, and expected to generate over 15,000 direct jobs. The new facility will process oil from the Sangomar field and other sources, complementing the modernization of the Mbao refinery. Turkish company Yamata will handle engineering, construction, and financing, aiming to boost national refining capacity and promote local industrial development.
