NFF Normalisation Committee: FIFA Keeps Nigeria Waiting

Following the FIFA Council meeting in Zurich on October 15, 2026, the Nigeria Football Federation is still waiting to learn whether a normalisation committee will be appointed. FIFA’s public statement did not say whether the proposal was approved, and no timetable for restoring elected leadership was announced. The crisis followed the August resignations of NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi and executive board members; a joint FIFA and CAF delegation visited Nigeria in September to consult football stakeholders.
