Ngousso: 20 people found in a basement, Mercy of God Ministry under scrutiny

On September 6, 2026, gendarmerie forces discovered 20 people, including 10 women, eight men, and two children, in a basement in Ngousso, Yaoundé. This space was reportedly used by the religious organization 'Mercy of God Ministry.' The intervention was prompted by alerts from local residents, and the sub-prefect of Yaoundé V, François Mabaya Essomba, visited the site. Mercy of God Ministry had previously been shut down in April 2020 in Nkoabang for lack of authorization.
