Niamey back to normal after soldier mutiny

Life in Niamey, Niger's capital, returned to normal after a military regime and its Russian paramilitary partners quelled a soldier mutiny. Intense fighting occurred from Friday to Saturday, with mutineers attempting to storm the presidential compound. While several mutineers were killed and others arrested, residents resumed their daily activities, although a major security operation remains in place around the presidency and airport.
