The Niger Delta oil-producing states and their local governments have received approximately $160 billion in federal allocations and other development resources over the past 27 years, according to Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede. Despite these funds, there have been no significant development outcomes, with over half of the region's population remaining multidimensionally poor. Aig-Imoukhuede called for a development and investment compact involving the nine Niger Delta states, the Federal Government, and the private sector.
