Niger Delta: Navy arrests Pastor Ime over alleged militancy, tightens security in Calabar waterways

The Nigerian Navy arrested Mr. Ime Edet Ekiko, known as Pastor Ime, on May 24, 2026, for alleged collaboration with a wanted militant identified as Simeon (Papi). The arrest was made by NNS Victory at the newly established forward security outpost on Dayspring Island in Akpabuyo, Cross River State. The suspect allegedly supplied information on security personnel movements and concealed equipment used for militant activities. He has been handed over to the Department of State Services for further investigation and prosecution.
