Niger miners tragedy: MURIC demands overhaul of NSCDC operations, compensation for victims

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to immediately overhaul the operations of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The organization also demanded justice and compensation for the families of 37 artisanal miners who died under mysterious circumstances while in NSCDC custody. Indabawa, MURIC's coordinator, described the incident as unacceptable and emphasized that the 1999 Constitution strictly prohibits the torture of detainees.
