In 2025, Niger recorded 1,245 deaths due to road insecurity, with 4,439 serious injuries. Although the number of bodily accidents decreased by 11.26% compared to 2024, the number of deaths increased by 12.56%. In response, President Abdourahamane Tiani declared 2026 the 'Year of Road Discipline' and launched a national campaign aimed at reducing road deaths by 30% and accidents by 50%.
