Nigeria: 1.5 billion naira spent to marry 1,500 couples in Kano

The Kano State in northern Nigeria organized a mass wedding for 1,500 couples, funded with 1.5 billion naira. The main ceremony was supervised by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II. Each bride received 200,000 naira and various items for their setup, while the men received clothing and food supplies. Nearly 5,000 applications were recorded for the program, which included medical examinations and counseling sessions.
