The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) has raised concerns about Nigeria's alarming maternal mortality rate, which accounts for nearly 20% of global maternal deaths. Felicia Dairo, Programme Manager at CJID, highlighted persistent underfunding and systemic failures in the health sector despite repeated government commitments. Many Primary Health Care facilities lack functional water supply, electricity, and essential drugs, while health data remains fragmented and budget documents opaque.
