Nigeria and the USA conduct new strikes against the Islamic State

Nigeria and the United States conducted new joint strikes against the Islamic State in northeastern Nigeria. These strikes took place on Sunday, just days after 46 people, mostly children, were kidnapped in the south of the country. The operation also resulted in the death of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, an IS leader regarded as the group's second-in-command, who had been under U.S. sanctions since 2023.
