Nigeria, Cameroon Sign MoU to Strengthen Security along the Southern Border

Nigeria's Defence Minister General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd) and Cameroon's Delegate Minister at the Presidency in Charge of Defence Joseph Beti Assomo signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Yaoundé on June 17, 2026. The agreement, following two days of talks, establishes a framework for enhanced cooperation to secure the terrestrial and maritime domains along the southern border. It includes operational coordination, intelligence sharing, logistics, joint training, and personnel exchanges. Nigeria also expressed readiness to collaborate on defence manufacturing and innovation.
