Nigeria ranks 2nd in acute pesticide poisoning in West Africa — Study

A study has shown that about 69% of farmers and farm workers in Nigeria are exposed to acute pesticide poisoning annually. Burkina Faso has the highest incidence rate in the region at 83.8%, followed by Nigeria at 69%. The study calls for immediate action to reduce pesticide-related harm, including phasing out highly hazardous pesticides.
