Nigeria risks instability without credible opposition in 2027 — Peterside

Atedo Peterside, founder of Stanbic IBTC Bank, warned that Nigeria could face instability if credible opposition is undermined ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that recent Supreme Court rulings may reshape the political landscape, raising concerns about judicial credibility and democratic competition. Peterside noted that key opposition figures, such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, have aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), strengthening its position as the main opposition force.
