Nigeria and the United States signed a framework to attract American investment into Nigeria's estimated $700 billion mineral resources. The agreement was signed by Nigeria's Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, and US Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, during the UN General Assembly in New York. The framework aims to foster cooperation in geological data, exploration, mineral development, processing, infrastructure, and technical capacity, with the goal of increasing domestic value addition and supporting Nigeria's economic diversification.
