Nigerian children still dumped in orphanages over poverty - Right advocate raises alarm

Child Rights Advocate Eghosa A Erhumwunse raised concerns about the increasing number of children entering residential care due to poverty and lack of support. He emphasized that despite Nigeria's child protection laws, implementation remains inadequate. Minister of Women Affairs Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim also highlighted the need for accurate data on children in orphanages and directed state permanent secretaries to profile all orphanages.
