Nigerian govt mourns Niger miners, promises thorough investigation

The Federal Government of Nigeria expressed deep sorrow over the death of 37 suspected illegal miners detained during enforcement operations in the Wushishi/Lukoto axis. Minister of Information, Mr. Mohammed Idris, conveyed condolences to Governor Umaru Bago and emphasized the need for a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. He also announced the suspension of NSCDC Niger Commandant, Mr. Suberu Aniviye, and assured that all law enforcement operations must respect human life and dignity.
