Nigerian Govt reacts to death of Niger 'illegal' miners in NSCDC custody

The Federal Government expressed sorrow over the tragic loss of life during enforcement operations against illegal mining activities in the Wushishi/Lukoto region of Niger State. Minister of Information Mohammed Idris conveyed condolences to Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and emphasized the need for a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. He also announced the suspension of the Niger State NSCDC Commandant and assured that appropriate measures would be taken based on the investigation's findings.
