The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, threatened sanctions against contractors and consultants handling the National Library of Nigeria project due to further delays. At a meeting in Abuja, he announced that the Federal Government would set new delivery timelines and hold contractors accountable for their commitments. The project, conceived in 1981 and construction starting in 2006, was initially expected to be completed in 2008 but remains unfinished.
