Nigerian man sentenced to 8 years in U.S. prison for $7.5m charity scam

Nigerian national Olusegun Adejorin was sentenced to eight years in federal prison in the United States for defrauding two charitable organizations of over $7.5 million. He was convicted of wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, and unauthorized access to a protected computer. Adejorin was extradited from Ghana in August 2024 and carried out the scam between June and August 2020 by impersonating employees of charities based in Maryland and New York.
