Nigerian student dies after asthma attack while celebrating birthday in London

Obanyeli Jesse Chima, a 26-year-old Nigerian student who had recently completed a master’s degree in Public Health in London, died after an asthma attack on September 19 while meeting friends to celebrate their birthdays. He used three inhalers and emergency crews tried to help, but he was placed on life support, declared brain-dead and died on September 25. His friend Eva launched a fundraiser to cover the cost of returning his body to Nigeria and related funeral expenses. Chima had worked at Chelsea Football Club and leaves three siblings in Nigeria.
