Lukman Owolabi Ganiyu, a former immigration services officer, and Adeniyi Akeem Somoye were arrested in the United States for allegedly receiving illegal payments in exchange for manipulating and expediting immigration applications. A federal criminal complaint states that Ganiyu exploited his official position from December 2019 to March 2026 to approve various immigration applications for money, bypassing several mandatory procedures. Prosecutors stated that selling immigration benefits for cash is a blatant abuse of public trust.
