Nigeria's EFCC chief has fired 40 of his anti-corruption agents for 'being corrupt'

Ola Olukoyede, chairman of Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), announced the dismissal of over 40 employees for corruption and financial misconduct over the past three years. He noted that more than five of the dismissed agents were already facing prosecution. Under his leadership, the EFCC has recovered 1.23 trillion naira and achieved a conviction rate of over 75% since October 2023.
