Nigeria’s first Ebola case since the East African outbreak began is a 42-year-old Ugandan woman, the wife of a diplomat, who spent two and a half weeks in Kampala before returning to Abuja on 3 October, with a two-hour stopover in Addis Ababa. She developed symptoms three days after arriving home and was admitted to hospital on 11 October after initially seeking treatment for malaria; her Ebola diagnosis was confirmed on 20 October. Health Minister Muhammad Ali Pate said she was stable and improving, and that 44 contacts had been identified and isolated, with none known to have developed symptoms.
