NIMC reacts to reports of NIN database breach - Daily Post Nigeria

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has dismissed reports claiming that Nigeria’s NIN database was breached, stating these claims are false and originate from a 2024 report. A viral video claimed that NIN and BVN details could be bought for N100 and that officials in Lagos were selling NIN information for N1,000 outside the office. NIMC emphasized that its database has never been compromised and that it maintains a strong security infrastructure to protect citizens' data.
