NLC Reserves 889.06 acres of Land for Naivasha-Malaba SGR Extension

The National Land Commission (NLC) has officially reserved 889.06 acres of land for the planned extension of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Naivasha to Malaba. This decision, gazetted on April 2, 2026, signals the government's intention to compulsorily acquire parcels of land along the Naivasha-Kisumu-Malaba corridor. The project, estimated to cost Ksh700 billion ($5.4 billion), will involve Chinese firms for the construction of the remaining sections of the railway.
