China’s State TV Snubs Real Madrid Match Amid Mbappé Controversy

China’s state broadcaster CCTV did not air Sunday’s La Liga match between Real Madrid and Racing Santander. The game kicked off at 1515 GMT but was absent from both of CCTV’s sports channels, AFP reporters observed. The decision followed remarks by Kylian Mbappé about former Chinese leader Mao Zedong that caused a furore in China. No other matches from La Liga’s 11th round had been broadcast live on public television so far.
