NMA warns against harassment of health workers

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has cautioned Nigerians against harassing or intimidating healthcare workers, emphasizing that medical personnel should not be blamed for every death recorded in hospitals. The association's president, Prof. Afekhide-Ernest Omoti, stated that a legal framework now exists to address such acts, including the National Policy Against Intimidation and Harassment of Healthcare Workers. This policy requires hospitals to ensure the safety of healthcare workers and to prosecute offenders appropriately.
