North Kivu: Digital Population Census Resumes in Beni After Ebola-Related Interruption

The Provincial Digital Development and Archives Unit (CPDA) resumed its routine digital population census in Beni in the fourth quarter of 2026 after work was interrupted because of the Ebola outbreak. Coordinator Augustin Ndimubanzi Bazirake said the census records residents and their activities, as well as births, deaths, arrivals, departures and address changes. The information is stored on a provincial server to keep demographic statistics updated and help authorities in Beni and Butembo manage their populations. The operation began in Beni and is to be extended to other areas of North Kivu.
