North Kivu: Ten years after its only health post was destroyed, Nyaleke remains without a health facility

Nyaleke, about 15 kilometres from Beni, has had no health facility since its only health post was destroyed in 2016 during attacks attributed to ADF rebels. Residents must travel to nearby communities, including Paida, about seven kilometres away, to receive medical care. Pregnant women are particularly affected, having to make the journey for prenatal consultations and childbirth. Nyaleke’s chief, Fabien Bakokoli Alisabiya, is urging authorities to build a dispensary.
