North Kivu: Traffic resumes on the Nyabiondo–Mutongo–Pinga road after two-week closure by the FRN

Traffic resumed early on Wednesday, November 4, on the Nyabiondo–Mutongo–Pinga road between Masisi and Walikale territories, after the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN) rebels closed it for two weeks. Traffic had stopped on October 21 following clashes between the FRN and the wazalendo in Nyabiondo. Lavie Changwi, administrative secretary of the Kisimba grouping, said Pinga traders who had been stranded in Nyabiondo returned home with their goods. The Nyabiondo–Kashebere–Walikale route remains closed, while the earlier disruption had affected supplies and raised prices for essential goods.
