North-West: a municipal councillor from Ndu killed after several weeks of captivity

Issa Ntarike, a municipal councillor from Ntisaw and president of the drivers' union in Ndu, was killed after being kidnapped and tortured by separatist fighters. Despite a ransom payment, his release was not secured. Another municipal employee was also detained and is currently hospitalized in serious condition. The Ndu municipality reports ongoing kidnappings and attacks in the area.
