Northern elders to Tinubu: Nigeria's bleeding, declare national security emergency

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) demanded that President Bola Tinubu declare a national security emergency, expressing outrage over the collapse of security in Nigeria. In a statement by spokesperson Prof. Abubakar Jiddere, the NEF cited Section 14(2)(b) of the Constitution and noted that never since independence has the country experienced such widespread insecurity. The elders highlighted that regions including Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau, Borno and others are engulfed in violence, with citizens living in fear and criminals operating with impunity.
