Norway seizes Russian ship in Arctic over Crimea compensation claim

Norway seized the Russian ship Professor Molchanov in the Arctic to enforce a $4.22 billion compensation claim by Ukrainian firm Naftogaz, following a tribunal ruling in The Hague in 2023. This action came after Moscow failed to pay for the expropriation of assets in Crimea. Russian Minister Alexei Chekunkov called the seizure 'piracy' and stated that Moscow would challenge the ruling.
