The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) sanctioned Rivers United after the club obstructed the live broadcast of its home match against Rangers International on Sunday at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt. The Matchday 11 fixture ended in a 1-1 draw. The N15 million fine and deductions of three points and three goals are suspended and will be activated only if the club repeats the offence this season. NPFL CEO Ayo Abdulrahman said the incident undermined the league’s commercial and broadcast agreements and damaged its reputation.
