NPFL: Shooting Stars pip Inter Lagos in season opener

Shooting Stars defeated Inter Lagos 2-1 in the opening fixture of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season. Lucky Emmanuel gave Shooting Stars the lead in the 14th minute, but Adigun Damilare equalized for Inter Lagos shortly after. Sodiq Ibrahim converted a penalty just before halftime to restore Shooting Stars' lead. The second half saw both teams create chances, but Mustapha Adams missed a penalty that could have doubled the lead.
