Nsam Technical High School tragedy: Ministry reveals what provoked students’ anger

Cameroon’s Ministry of Secondary Education says three students travelling to school on a motorcycle in Yaoundé were involved in a crash Wednesday morning: the driver died at the scene, one passenger was left in a coma, and the third was not in immediate danger. Shortly beforehand, another student had been sent away for a hairstyle deemed against school rules, and students mistakenly believed he was the crash victim. They blamed the school and vandalized the cafeteria, administrative offices, vehicles, computer rooms and digital boards. The Yaoundé III sub-prefect, security forces and ministry officials intervened, and the ministry says the situation is under control.
