NSCDC calls for public support against terrorism after Oyo rescue

The NSCDC has called on Nigerians to provide timely and credible information to strengthen the fight against terrorism. This follows the successful rescue of 44 abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State, who were kidnapped by terrorists on May 15, 2026. The joint operation involving the NCTC, military, and police was commended by NSCDC Commandant General Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who emphasized the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration and the collective responsibility of national security.

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore described the arrest of the self-acclaimed Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, as 'the biggest cover-up ever.' Sowore alleged that the arrest and reported dehumanisation of Adeyemi suggest an official cover-up rather than a genuine search for truth, and called for the arrest and investigation of President Tinubu's Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila. He further claimed that the individual alleged to have collected a ₦400 million bribe on Gbajabiamila's behalf has died under mysterious circumstances, and the hotel used for the transaction has been demolished. Adeyemi was arrested after a warrant was issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja on charges of forgery, fraud, and impersonation.
