NSCDC Mining Marshals Launch Fresh Crackdown on Illegal Mining in Nasarawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals have launched a new crackdown on illegal miners in Nasarawa State, in collaboration with other security agencies. Commander ACC Attah John Onoja stated that the operation targets illegal mineral exploitation, seen as a national security threat with environmental, community stability, revenue, and investor confidence implications. The joint operation aims to share intelligence, enhance capacity to dismantle illegal mining networks, and ensure the safety of arrested miners. This action comes amid controversy over the death of 37 miners in custody in Niger State.
