NSFAS R33bn projection sharpens questions over student funding sustainability

South Africa's student funding model is facing growing concerns over the sustainability of NSFAS, with a funding shortfall of R15 billion that could reach R33 billion by 2029. Higher Education Minister Buti Manamela warned that the current funding system requires a fundamental overhaul.
