Ebonyi Assembly approves N150 million political billboard fees

Ebonyi State House of Assembly set billboard and poster fees in Abakaliki at N150 million for presidential and governorship candidates, N20 million for National Assembly candidates and N5 million for State House of Assembly candidates. Lawmakers ordered existing contracts to be terminated and assigned enforcement and fee collection to the Commissioner for Capital City Development. Political advertisers must pay into a designated government account and use approved locations; unauthorized installations will incur a penalty of 50% of the applicable fee. The Assembly also approved a N9.673 billion Keystone Bank loan requested by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for counterpart funding for the UBEC programme.
