Millions of birds are killed across the Mediterranean every year

Three leading organizations, Tour du Valat, EuroNatur, and BirdLife International, have raised alarm over the illegal killing of millions of migratory birds annually across the Mediterranean. They urge governments to implement measures to cut these practices by at least 50% by 2030, as part of the Rome Strategic Plan. Despite active efforts by conservation groups, 83% of the 46 assessed countries have not yet put in place the necessary measures, and illegal hunting and trafficking of birds like finches and quails continue to threaten migratory populations.
