International Retirement of Ismail Jakobs: Vieira and Pape Gueye End Rumors

Hours after the Senegal team list for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers was announced, journalist Fatima Sylla claimed on social media that defender Ismail Jakobs of Galatasaray had decided to retire from international football. This information has not been officially confirmed by Jakobs or the Senegalese Football Federation, and his future with the national team remains uncertain. Coach Patrick Vieira cited his selection choices for his absence, without confirming Jakobs's retirement. His definitive withdrawal from the team is thus still unconfirmed.
