Hajiya Gambo Sawaba (1933-2001) was a Nigerian political activist known for her fight against state injustices and for gender equality. She was imprisoned 16 times and endured numerous abuses, which only strengthened her resolve to advocate for women's rights and oppose child marriages. Despite her limited education, Sawaba wielded moral authority in the courts, where her presence prevented judges from delivering unjust rulings.
