Obituary: Senegalese football loses another legend, Abdoulaye Diop 'Pelé' is no more

Abdoulaye Diop, known as 'Pelé', former striker for Espoir de Saint-Louis and the Senegal national team, passed away at the age of 86 in Saint-Louis due to illness. He made his mark in Senegalese football by participating in the Friendship Games in 1963 and the first Africa Cup of Nations in 1965. His career highlights include scoring twice in a match against Cameroon in 1969. The body will be laid to rest on September 8, 2023, at the Sindoné mosque.
