Obituary: The untold story of Ibrahima Ndiaye, the driving force behind RTS’s 8 p.m. news

Ibrahima Ndiaye, longtime director of the 8 p.m. news on Senegal’s public broadcaster RTS, has died after an illness that kept him away from the control room in recent weeks. Working behind the scenes, he coordinated reports, studio shots and live broadcasts, ensuring the programme ran smoothly and on time. Though largely unknown to viewers, he was a key figure behind the national television channel’s most-watched news broadcast. RTS announced his death with “deep sadness,” as colleagues and loved ones mourned him.
