Ogun Police Secure Conviction of Man for Counterfeiting Coleman Cables

Ogun State Police secured the conviction of Samson Okonkwo for counterfeiting and selling electrical cables bearing the Coleman brand. The Magistrate Court in the Ojodu Abiodun district delivered its judgment on September 24, 2026, after prosecutors submitted 317 coils of fake cables as evidence. Okonkwo and accomplices who remain at large had faced four counts, including conspiracy, forgery and fraudulent sale of counterfeit goods. Police warned that substandard cables can cause electrical faults, fires and electrocution, and urged the public to report suspected fake products.
